pregunta dificil
December 30, 2006Un chico del proyecto Common Ground nos dice que sí que hay otras organizaciones que están haciendo reconstrucción y tal, pero que Common Ground es distinto por tener una postura más política.
Le preguntamos: en un vacio de estado, donde por lo visto no hay apenas municipio ni instituciones, dónde no tiene mucho sentido hacer ni reivindicación ni denuncia (a quién?), ¿qué se entiende por política?
Dice que no sabe. Que es una buena pregunta pero que francamente ha estado demasiado liado con la inmediatez como para plantearse estas cosas.

If so, the group Bring The Ruckus (http://bringtheruckus.org/) was involved in reconstruction efforts as well, at least at one point, with an emphasis on organizing among the survivors of the hurricane. I think that’s part of what politics means in that situation and in general – the composition of a collective self-organized body. So, reconstruction yes, definitely, but the Red Cross can do that to in the sense of infrastructure and so on. Politics is the reconstruction (or just construction) of organization. Similarly, in response to precarity, we don’t just want security (in the way that some of our parents had it) but security on our own terms. (Though some days I would definitely settle for security on anyone’s terms…)
